We Love…Alex Sim-Wise

Now before you start to wonder whether you’ve ventured onto a strange softcore porn site, I’d like to let you know that you haven’t. This is in fact the start of a new category for ITalkInType called…WeLoveThesePeople. An original name I grant you [/sarcasm], but this is a place where our staff members may like to pay tribute to someone that you may know, or you may not have heard of.

The first person in former-model-turned-games-critic Alex Sim-Wise.

Just a word of warning, before you do a google search, make-sure your safesearch settings are set to strict. Alex’s earlier modelling career did have a few shots that didn’t have that many clothes in them, and I’m not being the reason you were fired for looking at pictures of half-naked women. It is the main reason she got thrust in the world of micro-celebrity though, as she won a Student of The Year for FHM which led to many shoots for Front, Playboy and other assorted lads magazines. She was also a part of a dubious British tradition: the Page 3 Girl.

However, she’s also a bit of a gamer – a slightly more ditzy Felicia Day but without the acting skills. She’s slowly morphed into a video games journalist who posts regular video games reviews for Men’s magazine Front whilst also maintaining a blog on MySpace and a twitter account which is filled with zany madness and a madcap sense of humour I once remember myself once having before tedium knocked it out of me. But in videos for FHM where girls usually list their name, rack rank and serial number (aka place they were born) who else would claim they’re from the moon?

So why is she the first person in this category? Well it’s because she is a bit of a looker and gets her boobies out, she’s retiring from that and focusing on the journalism side of things. Her blog posts are honest, quite funny and entertaining and she knows how to target her views on ‘gadgets and games’ for Greg James on Radio 1 every Tuesday for a mainstream non-gaming audience.

She’s also quite helpful as well. She hasn’t completely turned her back on the modelling business, she holds fond memories of the business but also has a keen head and does offer advice for those looking to enter a slightly seedy industry that has often alluded myself with confusion.
